Directions: North from Tonami Station, walk up the road past Big Blue’s Café and take a right on the big road (route 16). On the big road that leads to Sankyu and Kahma on your left, take a right and keep going. It will be on your left.

English: Yes, most of the doctors have a good grasp of English.

Cleanliness: Clean

Service: A large hospital with a full staff, professional and hospitable.

Accessibility: Not far from Tonami Station

Generally, you can be seen from 8:30-11:00 and 1:30-4:00 M-F

Urology: Dr. Misake Toshimitsu (male) has good English Proctology: Dr. Ietsugu (male) has good English Ear, Nose, and Throat: Dr. Hirose (female) has good English Dr. Ota (female) has good English

The Tonami after hours centre is behind the tonami hospital – it is open from 8pm to 11pm every night and from 9-5 Sat and Sun.

2. Hokuriku Chuo Byouin

Directions: From JR Isuruni, walk straight, turn left at lights. Walk straight for 2 lights and then turn left over tracks. Down about 600m, turn right at 2nd street (near Rt. 42).

Large hospital with young and helpful doctors and nurses in the prenatal department. Have an English manual that can guide patients and doctors through diagnosis.

3. Koritsu Nanto Chuo Byouin (公立南砺中央病院)

Directions: Located between Johana and Fukumitsu. Follow the 293 from Fukumitsu or the 277 from Johana. You could also walk east from Etchuyamada Station on the Johana line.

English: Very little, but the nurses are all friendly and willing to help.

Cleanliness: Clean

Service: Helpful nurses.

Accessibility: May be slightly hard to find, not on major roads or near a major station.

Monday – Friday 9:00-12:00, 14:00-17:00, registration 8:30-11:30, 13:30-16:00

Open Saturday, Sunday and holidays, beginning and ending of year.

4. Nanto Shimin Byouin (南砺市民病院)

Directions: Take the 471 from Fukuno, located near Zuisenji (temple) and the Nanto Education Center.

English: Competent speakers available, and the nurses are all very friendly and ready to help.

Cleanliness: Clean.

Service: A larger hospital with many different specialized doctors. English ability varies greatly with doctor.

Accessibility: In Inami, so cannot be reached by a train line.

Open hours vary with the doctor. Generally, you can be seen from 8:45-11:30 and 1:30-4:00 M-F
