I know I have insurance through JET, but should I take out an additional insurance policy when I travel abroad?
It's always a good idea to take out travel insurance, and you would do it if you were travelling from your home country, so why not do it here?
If you haven't already, check out your JET insurance policy. You'll see that when travelling abroad, our medical cover is only 700,000 yen which is about $7000. If the worst were to happen and you ended up in hospital, your bills might end up higher than this.
