I'm a prefectural SHS JET. When will I get my housing subsidy payment?
You should receive a housing subsidy of 15000 a month. It's up to your school when they decide to pay it to you. Most schools will split it into 3 payments of 60,000 which you will receive in August, December and April, but it's up to your school as to how they will split it. Some may break it into two payments, a larger one in August to last to the end of the fiscal year and a smaller one in April to last to the end of your contract. You need to talk to your school and find out what they intend to do. When it arrives in your bank account is down to your school. It usually seems to be a few days after payday (the 15th), however April is just after the beginning of the new school year and school offices are busy and may take longer to process the payment, so you may have to wait until May.
As this is controlled by the general office in your individual schools, you need to speak to them for specific information as to when it will be paid. We don't know at the GEC, and will be unable to give you an answer. Due to delays that may occur, please don't rely on receiving the money by a certain date as there may be delays in getting it to you.
