Hi Everyone,

Just a few things that CLAIR wants me to send your way, and a few reminders about upcoming Regional Meetings (sorry if the formatting is a bit wonky again... hotmail is the devil). The message from CLAIR is at the bottom of this email.

In April, we will have regional meetings to discuss a myriad of things. A heads up now, however, if you are a re-contracting ALT and are interested in an AJET position (excursion rep, social rep (2 folks from different regions preferably), president, treasurer, am I missing anything?) or a Regional Rep position, now is the time to think about it. Also, we will be calling for interested parties to volunteer to help at Toyama Orientation this year, at the beginning of August. More details to come at the actual meetings. Here are your dates again...

    * 14 - Takaoka Regional Meeting 13:45-16:15 Takaoka Sogo Chosha
    * 15 - Tonami Regional Meeting 13:45-16:15 Tonami Sogo Chosha
    * 17 - Toyama Regional Meeting 13:45-16:15 GEC Rm 332-333
    * 18 - Niikawa Regional Meeting 13:45-16:15 Uozu Sogo Chosha

Dear ALTs, CIRs and SEAs,

Two Messages Regarding Teaching Resources:

1. CLAIR Resource Materials & Teaching Handbook update and online status

At CLAIR we are currently updating our Resource Materials & Teaching Handbook (a book you may have forgot exists that was handed out at Tokyo Orientation), many of you recently answered a survey about its content for us. Thank you for your contributions.

The consensus was that book is bulky and intimidating, so we are going to trim down the printed version whilst put all of the information online (the current version is available in pdf

http://www.jetprogramme.org/e/current/publications.html). We still would like to include more lesson plans and classroom activity templates, so please send them to: jetsubmit@clair.or.jp

2. Volunteer Web-based Lesson Plan Database

There is a volunteer project underway, a web-site database of lesson plans for ALTs.

http://jhsenglipediaproject.com/default.aspx

It is already looking like a very solid resource, and they are looking for more people to contribute so please check it out, tell your friends to check it out and send your lesson plans to them too!

(feel free to submit to both of us)

That's all for now. Hope you are all enjoying your spring vacation, and see you under the sakura!
