A Notice Regarding an Upcoming Typhoon

Hi everyone,

I apologize for sending this out to you so late. So, you may have heard that we are going to be getting rain over the next couple days. A LOT of it. If you feel uncomfortable or unsafe getting to school, I urge you to call the school and ask if someone can come pick you up! I of course can't guarantee that someone will, but I think there is a good chance that it'll work out, and if it doesn't and you still don't feel safe getting there, maybe it'd be worth considering taking paid leave (in the case that your school is one where classes have been cancelled; please do your best to try to work something out to get to school if you have classes).

If you are going to your visiting school and you must take public transportation...there's a chance it could be stopped for a time. If it takes time for you to get to this mode of transportation at all, consider calling your school and asking someone to check if the line is running (or ask another JET or someone who might know). If it's not running, your base school may want you to go there instead...if this is the case, please be patient with your school. We are teachers and teachers are required to come to work, many times even if the students are not there. Again, it couldn't hurt to ask if anyone would be willing to come get you.

If your base school requires that you take some method of public transportation, and it is cancelled...all I can suggest is, call your school, see what they say about it. Unfortunately, like so many other issues, this is going to vary widely case by case, and your CO will decide which course of action to take.

Drivers, this goes without saying, but be safe and cautious!!

Take care everyone; as usual let me know if there's anything I can do for you! --Tiffany
