Beaches
There are a few beaches in Toyama that are worth visiting. Be warned though that many of the beaches in Japan are littered with garbage, and Toyama’s are no exception.
Iwasehama:
This beach is only 20 minutes from Toyama Station so you can bike there or take the train that goes there every hour. This is definitely not the cleanest or most scenic of beaches but it serves its purpose.
Miyazaki Hisui Kaigon:
This is a famous Jade beach in Asahi. If you are lucky you will be able to find a piece or two of jade while walking along the shore. It is not a big beach but it is quite clean and beautiful.
Amaharashi:
This is probably the most famous beach in Toyama. It is known for its view of a big rock with a tree on it. It is supposed to be the most beautiful beach in Toyama. The view is beautiful but the beach is littered with garbage.
Shimao:
Located about 3 minutes before Himi City. It is a very popular beach among Toyama-ites. Very big, good sand, beach volleyball (sometimes the nets are down), great swimming; what more could you want in a beach. There are many beach gatherings here, so keep on the look out in summer.
Hamakurosaki:
Located five minutes (by car) up from Iwasehama is Hamakurosaki beach. It is hard to find as you must turn down a small road and pass through a cemetery to get to it. But if you want to get away from the crowded Iwasehama, it is a good small beach to go to. There is a lot of seaweed in the water though.
Ishidahama:
A nice, small beach in Uozu. Sometimes you can see the all famous mirage too...Whoopie!
