Kanazawa Shopping
Kanazawa has a bounty of shopping choices. Katamachi is the home of retail, with stores ranging from large outlets like Korinhbo 109 and Daiwa to small specialty stores. It’s worth heading to Katamachi and just walking around. You will find something that you want. Also worth checking out is Sony Plaza (downstairs in Daiwa), where you kind find an assortment of items such as clothes and selected food items from overseas. (Aussies and all chocolate biscuit lovers – at time of printing, they held Hokuriku’s largest supply of Tim Tams in about 4 varieties, at approximately 350 yen each)
Forus
Forus is a relatively new mall right next to Kanazawa station that has several floors of over-priced clothing stores, a couple of nice houseware places, a Body Shop and most notably, Hokuriku’s only GAP store. It also has a floor of restaurants-including the famous Kanazawa Mexican restaurant (its just a US chain, but its pretty decent) a cinema, and one of Kanazawa’s many Starbucks.
Tatemachi
Has a pedestriani shopping street which is a good place for window shopping and people watching. It also has a recently-opened Zara which has slightly more western sizes and shapes on offer.
Omicho Market
It has local fresh produce and seafood, and is good fun. Nearby is the famous Diamond store, great for foreign food!!!
