Other Restaurants worth a mention:
Café Aria - Yatsuo
This is by far the best café in Yatsuo. It has the atmosphere of a European-style café, something which you don’t find elsewhere in Yatsuo! They do great set lunches for 1000 yen, including coffee, main dish, soup and salad – really good value!
Getting There: It’s located right beside Yatsuo’s biggest supermarket, Orange Mart (the one that also houses MacDonalds). Orange Mart is on the route 7 if you’re heading out of Yatsuo in the direction of Toyama. Only open until 7pm unfortunately!
Murasaki - Yatsuo
If you want a traditional Yatsuo meal then go to Murasaki for tempura soba. Everything is in Japanese, including the prices and there’s no menu, just little bits of paper on the wall next to the two tables. They make soba outside in the summer.
Getting There: It’s on Suwa-machi street (the famous one!) to the left of the steps leading to the temple. It looks like a house and feels like you’re sitting in someone’s abode when you’re there. Murasaki can be a little expensive – tempura soba is 1200 yen and beer is 900 yen a glass.
