Hakuba Norikura/Hakuba Satomi (白馬乗鞍・白馬里見)
This place is a favorite amongst some Toyama boarders, due to the excellent out-of-bounds runs. The patrol are pretty swift to catch you, so be careful. Norikura is the largest hill with about 6 lifts or so. Next to Norikura is Satomi. If you buy a ticket to Norikura you can also go down Satomi. Satomi has a very good half-pipe, but they don’t let just anyone use it.
Iwatake (岩岳)
This place is also a favorite.. It has numerous lifts and very long runs. When the snow is good, this place is the best. Plenty of out-of-bounds trails for the brave.
Tsugaike Kogen(栂池高原)
This place is huge. It’s always crowded, usually with people from Tokyo and Nagoya. However, the town that surrounds the foot of the mountain is full of hotels for you to stay at.
Hakuba 47(白馬 47)
This place has the best out-of-bounds in Japan, so say some of the pro snowboarders from America and Australia. This place tends to have moguls. More for skiers than boarders.
Goryu Toomi (五龍とおみ)
This place is right next to Hakuba 47. You can ride on either hill if you buy a ticket for the other. It’s the same kind of place as Hakuba 47.
Happone (八方尾根)
Happone was the sight of the Olympic downhill in 1998.
Snowboarders aren't allowed up to the top of the hill. Is said to be a really good skiers’ hill, but that it gets a little crowded because of its Olympic past.
San Alpina (サンアルピナ)
There are a few ski places around Aoki Lake, all of them called San Alpina this or that. They are all pretty good and pretty big, but crowded. You usually have to wait a while to get on the lifts here, but after the initial lift up to the next hill, you can go to many different hills.
