Sportswear and Outdoor Gear
There are many sports stores in Toyama, most of then with great selections of outdoor equipment. Unfortunately, most of them are only accessible by car, so start making friends with wheels!
Rampjack
Rampjack is an awesome snowboarding specialty store and can do a pre-season tune-up for around 7000 yen. They carry every brand you could want and equipment that ranges from beginner to expert. This store also carries a selection of skateboards and wear. They are located on Rte 359, very close to the intersection of Rte 41.
Himaraya **has recently changed names**
Himaraya’s general sporting goods store is located behind their golf store. They stock camping equipment in the summer and ski and snowboarding goods in the winter. Wait until they advertise a sale and you can find great deals!
Xebio
Xebio is a large warehouse-style sporting goods store. Almost any sporting equipment can be bought here for a good price. Worth checking out before and after the ski season for discount ski and snowboard equipment. Go straight on 41 past Rte 359 (you`ll see the Apita on your left) and the expressway. It`s about 5 minutes from there on your right hand side.
Sports Depo
This place has equipment and clothes for a variety of sports. Good place to get cleats and stuff after joining the Toyama Oishi Mizu Soccer team!! It’s another good place to check out for skiing & snowboarding gear/clothes. It’s located across the street from Favore Shopping Mall.
Tyrol
This is a hole in the wall climbing, hiking and canoeing shop. The guy that owns it is really awesome. They have serious packs, clothes and equipment, along with the prices. If you need some rainproof stuff for climbing Mt. Fuji, check this place out. From Toyama station south side, walk past Yoshinoya and the taxi stand. It’ll be on your right.
AshU
Located on the street perpendicular to the McDonald’s on Rte. 41 in Toyama-shi near the entrance to Hokuriku. It’s a rather small place, but they’re honest. They sell skateboarding gear, clothes, snowboarding gear…also has a ramp upstairs! The guy that owns it is a really cool guy.
