Café Lunchbox
Tel: 0765 22 4664 Uozu City, Shin Kanya 1-12-38
Run by a young couple, Lunchbox serves “traditional” English food rather than Japanese food. It has a range of pasta (from 950 yen), risotto (950 yen), eggy rice (800 yen) and salads. Foreign beer and wine by the glass are availble for 400 yen and above. The restaurant is easily recognizable because the interior is a shining bright white and its name is is written in English with a picture of the Italian flag outside. With its pleasant and relaxed place, Lunchbox is ideal to chill out on weekends with friends.
Getting There: Parallel to the sea-front on the same road as Sun Plaza towards Seibu Junior High School
Châteraisé
They really love the European sophistication here in Uozu, don`t they? Across the road from Kouryu, next to the Osaka Yaa Supermarket and near to Seibu Junior High School is Châteraisé. This great little place specialises in icecream, desserts and pizzas. They sell pretty birthday cakes, traditional Japanese sweets and cakes and wine.

A nice Italian restaurant with one English menu available (with most of it translated). They have a good set lunch menu at a reasonable price. The food is very good and the pasta is al dente, perfecto!

Koryu is a Chinese restaurant located near the Sun Plaza in the centre of Uozu. It has a beautiful Japanese style garden and pond with bright and colourful fish. Popular with families, Kouryu serves familiar Chinese food at reasonable prices. For example, they have chaahan (fried rice 750 yen), gyoza (400 yen) , chuuka-don (stir-fried vegetables and seafood on rice 800 yen), maaboo-doofu (tofu in a spicy sauce 750 yen) and haru-maki (spring rolls 380 yen). They also serve some Thai food such as tomyamkum soup, and a bit of Russian food (or so they say). Set meals cost between 1,600 and 2,100 yen. The staff are efficient older waitresses who are more down-to-earth and less superficially friendly than in the average chain restaurant. You can choose to sit at low tables or not.
Getting There: 15-ish minute walk from JR Uozu Station. Go straight and turn right at the 2nd set of lights. Walk past Sun Plaza (see Uozu Shopping section). Continue until you see the big drug/grocery store on your left. The restaurant is on your right across the street from this.
Linden Baum
Uozu city 1-7-8 Kamimuraki
Tel: 0765 24 4014
Linden Baum is a Posh Cake Shop and Bakery with the sophisticated elegance of a Parisian bakery, complete with French words like pâtisserie, boulanger, glacier, café and thé. The cakes are beautiful, though a little expensive considering we are a long way from the Champs Elysees. The bakery is typical of most bakeries in Japan; its breads and cakes are extremely sweet. The boy who works behind the counter most days speaks great English.
Getting There: next to the Sunkus nearest to Sun Plaza and parallel to the sea-front.
Puchi France
A small restaurant with very good pasta and other Italian dishes. Don't be fooled by the name; it's really Italian food. A meal with drink and salad will cost around 2000 yen, or it’s around 800 yen for a pasta dish. There’s a great lunch set including salad, garlic bread and spicy rice croquette. Also recommended are the Niku spaghetti, or the Kimchee spaghetti- sounds weird but apparently it tastes great.
Getting There: Located near the tanning salon, across from Sun Plaza, not far from Uozu station.
