Form 1040 is the heart and soul of individual taxes. There are some shorter versions of Form 1040, including 1040A and 1040-EZ, but you can't fill those out this year. Since you are filing for foreign income exclusion, you have to use Form 1040.

Form 1040 has many additional schedules, which only certain people have to fill out. The instructions are not clear on the matter, but I think JETs may have to fill out Schedule B. It can't hurt and won't take long, so I recommend it.

When and Where to File

That's it. First years, you have to wait until your 1 year anniversary before you can file all the forms. However, other JETs and past JETs can file immediately. Don't forget to sign and date it then. Also, keep in mind that this guide was designed for basic tax situations. If you own stocks or mutual funds, you might need to fill out Schedule D as well.

File your tax return at the following address:

Internal Revenue Service Center
Philadelphia, PA 19255-0215
USA

Now that you've competed your federal taxes, you can start on your state taxes. The fun never stops!
