In that case, you\u2019ll need to dispose of your car\u2026 and this\u00a0doesn&#8217;t\u00a0mean leaving it on the side of the road! You will be charged vehicle taxes unless you properly dispose of your car. Car sales or disposal companies can assist you with the paperwork. The documents you\u2019ll need are:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 18px;\">Vehicle inspection certificate<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 18px;\">Front and back license number plates<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 18px;\">Certificate of Disposal: this is available from the disposal company, or the licensing center if you are disposing of the car yourself.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 18px;\">Your <em>hanko<\/em> and registration of your <em>hanko<\/em> from your local city office<\/span><\/li>\n<li>A letter of attorney if you are authorizing the disposal company to take care of the paperwork for you<\/li>\n<li>Tax certificate (depending on the office or company processing the paperwork)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><span style=\"line-height: 19px;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<p><strong>Selling Your Car<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Selling your car requires more than just an agreement between you and the purchaser. You\u2019ll have to officially transfer the ownership, which requires taking care of the below items (and perhaps a few more\u2026 ask a car dealer for assistance).
